Good News: Student Journey – Sifaga Sa’o
Sifaga Sa’o’s journey with FREEDOM Wellbeing Institute and NZCDI shows how persistence, purpose, learning, and opportunity come together to create real impact.
Coming from a background in community, ministry, and service, and fluent in Samoan, Sifaga was already supporting others in meaningful and culturally connected ways. She was looking to strengthen this work with more structured, research-based approaches.
Through the FREE Research & Educational Equity Trust, Sifaga was awarded a Professional Universal Wellbeing Scholarship and began the Certificate in Pastoral Care & Universal Wellbeing Coordination.
FREEDOM Wellbeing Institute and NZCDI are currently the only providers of this innovative and specialised pastoral care and Universal Wellbeing coordination programme in New Zealand, developed from over 16 years of applied research in education.
During her time with us, Sifaga has developed the capability to apply structured wellbeing frameworks, support individuals and communities more effectively, and contribute to long-term wellbeing outcomes.
Her commitment to service, cultural leadership, music, and community impact was clear from the beginning, along with her strong communication capabilities across both English and Samoan contexts.
As her journey progressed, so did her contribution.
Sifaga has now been appointed as Secretary of the Universal Wellbeing Charter International Advisory Board, and College of Professional Universal Wellbeing Practitioners.
This reflects the pathway to impact we aim to create. Supporting students not only in learning, but in stepping into leadership and contributing to wider societal improvements in Universal Wellbeing.
If you are interested in studying pastoral care and wellbeing coordination, contact us for an information pack or to join the next intake.
