About Chris
Chris De La Mare is a professional coach, education consultant, and advisor with over 20 years of experience in teaching and leadership across New Zealand’s education sector.
A registered teacher and ICF-certified coach, Chris blends deep educational knowledge with practical coaching techniques to help school leaders, teachers, parents, and business professionals build positive, effective, and wellbeing-centred environments.
He brings extensive expertise in communication skills, relationship development, and culture-building, having trained hundreds of professionals in empathic communication and collaborative leadership. His evidence-based approach supports people and organisations to achieve stronger connections, sustainable change, and measurable wellbeing outcomes.
Professional Background
Chris has served more than a decade in educational leadership, directing initiatives that strengthen learning outcomes and workplace culture.
He also serves as Board Chair of a primary–intermediate school and works part-time with Auckland Council as a Sustainable Schools Advisor, facilitating environmental and outdoor education programmes through the Enviroschools framework.
Driven by a passion for nature, sustainability, and systems that bring people together, Chris’s work aligns closely with the FREEDOM Wellbeing Institute’s focus on prevention, capability, and universal wellbeing.
