Universal Wellbeing Systems

Better outcomes begin with better systems.

When staff are disengaged, learners need more support or existing wellbeing initiatives aren't delivering lasting results, the answer may not be another short-term programme. It may be time to examine the systems shaping those outcomes.

FREEDOM Wellbeing Institute works with organisations and education providers to understand the underlying determinants of Universal Wellbeing and develop practical, evidence-informed approaches to improvement through primordial prevention.

Not every organisation needs the same solution. Our approach starts with understanding the setting, the people involved and the determinants influencing outcomes, rather than assuming a standard programme will fit everyone.

How the approach works

From understanding the problem to making informed change.

A Universal Wellbeing system can bring evaluation, education, support and review into a more coherent approach.

1

Understand the setting

Discuss the challenges, existing practices and outcomes your organisation wants to improve.

2

Identify the determinants

Use the Universal Wellbeing framework and, where appropriate, evaluations to understand contributing factors.

3

Plan for sustained improvement

Consider suitable workshops, staff capability, system design and ways to review progress over time.

The research foundation

Grounded in the Universal Wellbeing Model.

Our work draws on more than 17 years of applied research and the Universal Wellbeing Model (UWM), alongside the Universal Wellbeing Evaluation Tool (UWET).

The model examines the interrelated determinants that influence Universal Wellbeing across different life and organisational environments. This supports a primordial prevention approach: addressing the conditions and influences that contribute to harm before problems become entrenched.
