Faculty and Learners attend Business Summit 2017

Faculty and learners from the FREEDOM Institute of Higher Education attended the Business Summit 2017 on 22nd February 2017 at the generous invitation of Neal McDiarmid from the ANZ Chartered Accountants. The event was held at the Pacific Crystal Palace, Governer’s Lawn, Hamilton Gardens. The summit was jointly organized by ANZ, BDO Waikato, Chartered Accountants ANZ, Tainui Group Holdings, and Xero and supported organisations’ working together to support regional business growth.

The event offered those entering finance and accounting careers at FREEDOM to see business initiatives in the region, to network and gain insights into New Zealand and global economies through presentations given by experts on the following topics:

Infrastructure in the upper North Island region and its impact on business;

Collaborative working relationships between our largest cities;

Business disruption and the IT revolution; and

Identification and minimisation of business risks.

The learners also participated in specialised breakout sessions covering Business Risks and Cyber Security, Collective Strengths, Market Strategy, and Sustainable Business.

A special feature of the well-attended summit was Rt. Hon. Stephen Joyce who outlined his priorities as the new Minister of Finance.
